New biopharma event launches alongside CPhI Worldwide 2018
New event to create unique synergies between the parallel worlds of large, small molecules Frankfurt, 26th October 2017: UBM’s pharma portfolio announces the launch of a new bespoke and independently branded biopharma event, BioLive, next year in Madrid (October 9-11, 2018 at IFEMA, Feria de Madrid) – specifically for bioprocessing and manufacturing. BioLive will serve as a global hub for both upstream and downstream processing and manufacturing, connecting biotechs, big pharma and service providers including CDMOs and CROs from early stage development to commercial manufacturing and regulatory services. It will also feature biogeneric and bioinnovator audiences through to manufacturing and laboratory specialists. Analyst research indicated that running the new event in parallel to its enormous contract services (ICSE) and small molecule (CPhI Worldwide) exhibitions – both currently the world’s largest in their respective areas – would create natural synergies and establish the first truly global hub covering the entire biopharma and pharma supply chains. “It’s

CPhI report warns of battle of innovators and biogenerics
Annual report forewarns of intense battle between innovators and biogeneric companies Amsterdam, 24th October 2017: CPhI Worldwide – organised by UBM – announces the findings of final section (part iii) of the 5th edition of the CPhI Annual Report, which focuses on the immediate and long-term trends in pharmaceutical data, regulation, generics and biosimilars. The full report was published live from CPhI Worldwide in Frankfurt (October 24-26, 2017) amongst more than 42,000 executives. The report also noted that, despite what one expert describes as the ‘abusive’ and ‘unethical’ antics of innovator companies, the development of biogenerics is continuing apace. Furthermore, with the anticipated harmonisation of biosimilar regulatory guidelines – a common dossier for use both in the US and Europe is currently under discussion – and an overall increase in players in the market, the dynamics of the biosimilar market are shifting towards congruence with the generics and adoption should now accelerate. Aqua peptide - Creative Proteomics
Aqua peptide - Creative Proteomics
Absolute Quantification is a targeted quantitative proteomics technique that exhibits robust efficacy and is being increasingly utilized for a wide variety of quantitative proteomics studies. AQUA strategy is for the absolute quantification (AQUA) of proteins and their modification states. Peptides are synthesized with incorporated stable isotopes as ideal internal standards to mimic native peptides formed by proteolysis. These synthetic peptides can also be prepared with covalent modifications (e. g. , phosphorylation, methylation, acetylation, etc.) that are chemically identical to naturally occurring posttranslational modifications. Such AQUA internal standard peptides are then used to precisely and quantitatively measure the absolute levels of proteins and post-translationally modified proteins after proteolysis by using a selected reaction monitoring analysis in a tandem mass spectrometer.

PROTECT Class III Cabinets – Primary Barrier of Protection
Biosafety cabinets of class III are featured with a range of functional advantages. A class III biosafety cabinet is an enclosure where the work zone is completely isolated from the environment. Thereat, an operator is also separated from the work zone with a physical barrier, usually, with a special glass. The operator can do all the manipulations in the work chamber using gloves fixed to the cabinet. Such configuration allows work with especially hazardous microbiological materials like viruses, bacteria, chemicals, radionuclides, carcinogens, etc. The operating principle of the cabinet is based on the continuous supply of the filtered air into the work chamber and its double-filtered exhaust into the environment. Whereas, at least 200 Pa negative pressure is maintained in the work chamber. The Protect class III biosafety cabinet by Lamsystems is not just functional but is also user-friendly. Almost all of the manipulations for loading and disinfection can be easily done by a single person and do not require any additional personnel. One
