Customized Design with Due Care!
During production of non-standard equipment, a great care is given to compliance with EN. Customized design solving ad hoc problems is creative, challenging and in our case highly responsible process. The above especially applies to biosafety cabinets designed for work with pathogenic agents and microorganisms. This type of equipment shall protect an operator and environment from especially hazardous infections. The process of manufacturing of the cabinets is strictly regulated by EN standard since even a slight modification of configuration may lead to reduction of protection efficiency of the equipment. However, sometimes, serial models cannot meet the specifics of operation and certain aspects of technical processes completely. Hence, standard equipment needs to be aligned with non-standard tasks. Lately, the number of such requests from our clients has significantly grown. Fortunately, qualification, experience and customized design practice of our specialists allow them to find solutions that would satisfy a customer as well as comply with regulatory

European Audit Passed!
LAMSYSTEMS has proved its honorable right to place European quality mark on its products. Representative from TÜV NORD (Hamburg, Germany) international certification center Svenja Sneider visited the enterprise with a certification audit in the beginning of June 2017. In 2014, the microbiological safety cabinet class Ii neoteric passed certification tests of compliance to the European standard EN 12469:2000 in the TÜV NORD certification center and received a designated certificate. Since then, the company confirms its right to mark its products with a European quality mark every year. Annual mandatory audit of the manufacturing company that received TÜV is created to confirm that the serial production complies with all the necessary standards and all manufactured products have the same quality characteristics as the sample that passed certification. As usual, not only to the product but also the whole manufacturing process including supplies, quality management system, stages of the manufacturing cycle, tools and personnel qualification passed the

New Book: Safe Work Behaviour with Brain Based Safety
New Book: Safe Work Behaviour with Brain Based Safety
Nowadays we know much more about the working of the brain, especially how it perceives things, how it decides and how it prepares and performs actions. This book uses that new understanding. It focuses on the question what the brain teaches us about safe work behaviour and which opportunities we have to influence that behaviour. The author offers the reader an innovative insight in the psychology behind the success or failure of many work-related safety measures. One of the key messages is that behaviour is driven by conscious processes to only a limited extent. Learning and changing isn’t only achieved by talking about it, but rather by doing it together. Explanation is useful but practice makes perfect. Working from his views on Brain Based Safety, Juni Daalmans illustrates how unsafe behaviour in the workplace can be changed effectively. He focuses on themes such as risk detection and risk evaluation, the influence of readiness, stress and regulations, the impact

The Great Hall of China: double digit growth at CPhI China
The Asian giant Pharma event surpasses 55,000 visits with more than 10,000 overseas visits Amsterdam, 15th August 2017: CPhI and P-MEC China, organised by Ubm emea, UBM Sinoexpo and China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Medicines & Health Products (CCCMHPIE), closed in June 2017 with a very successful show, reporting a positive outlook for the Chinese pharmaceutical market’s development. The event, featuring 2800+ exhibiting companies covering the entire supply chain, acts as an accurate barometer of the industry’s overall growth patterns and future developments. Two major trends to emerge from Asia’s largest pharma event were the increased interest and promotion of ‘intelligent manufacturing’ systems as well as ‘green manufacturing’ approaches. The former emphasised a rapid shift within China’s industry towards advanced facilities and product classes. However,

CPhI India Report identifies two-tier manufacturing market
CDSCO certification has also improved international repute of India Amsterdam, 10th August 2017: CPhI release the findings the 2017 India Pharma Market Report, which identified a two-tier manufacturing market and forecast increased acquisitions by Indian companies, along with a notable improvement in the international reputation of Indian made pharmaceuticals. But perhaps most dramatically, a large majority of domestic companies called for urgent Government support to invest in API sites. The report, which consolidated opinions from 500 domestic and international companies, identified four main areas Indian pharma companies are investing in – with 50% raising funds this year for ‘commercial scale and scale-up facilities’; around one third for ‘continuous processing’; and just over 20% each in both ‘biologics’ and ‘aseptic/sterile’. Over the next three-years, however, the number of companies planning to invest in biomanufacturing facilities rises to one third. It’s notable that the more expensive facilities and capabilities needed

When magnet size makes all the difference - MR Solutions’ 9.4T dry magnet MRI system is around seven times lighter
When magnet size makes all the difference
- MR Solutions’ 9.4T dry magnet MRI system is around seven times lighter When it comes to choosing a preclinical MRI imaging system there is no need to compromise – MR Solutions’ 9.4T cryogen free, or dry magnet system provides state of the art high resolution imaging within a compact footprint. This is often crucial as many research laboratories have very limited space. The old wet magnet technology is very large and weighs in at around 5 metric tonnes which demands floor reinforcement against 700 Kg for the newer dry magnet technology. This allows laboratories who have limited space to accommodate these very powerful scanners. It’s not just size and weight. Firstly the area required to accommodate MR Solution’s 9.4T MRI system is around 8m2 to be comfortable, although it could fit within a 4m2 room on any floor compared with 15-20m2 (for a wet magnet system). It can be placed near other imaging equipment because it has a very small stray magnetic field. There is no need for costly helium top-ups as it is a dry magnet system. The

Rainin’s calibration service helps ensure accurate, precise
Scientists at Novartis in Jersey, USA, rely on Mettler toledo rainin’s calibration and maintenance service to guarantee the correct operation of their pipettes. Yusra Saleh, formerly a metrology specialist at the company, explained: “We have around 400 single and multi-channel pipettes ranging from 20 to 2,000 μl, the majority of which are from Rainin. Each one must be calibrated on time and according to user-defined specifications. A good calibration and maintenance program – such as that provided by Rainin – is essential for accurate and precise pipetting.” “We chose Rainin because it offers an excellent maintenance program that includes changing the pipette seals, and the turnaround time is good too. As the original manufacturer, we can rely on the company’s SOPs and audit processes, which is not the case if you chose a third-party service center; in that situation you have to develop your own audit procedures, which is a lot of extra work. Another big advantage
